Course Description :
This subject includes concepts and principles of clinical teaching, and exploration of clinical educator’s methods and processes of clinical teaching, principles of supervision, preparation of clinical teaching plans and evaluation of students’ performance.
General objectives :
This course enable the trainees to gain knowledge and experience in clinical teaching and supervision for nursing students in health care setting.
Specific Objectives :
After completing this course, the graduates will be able to:-
- Describe the concepts and principle to clinical teaching in nursing.
- Describe the roles of the clinical educator’s learners.
- Identify desirable characteristics of clinical educators.
- Define the methods and processes of clinical teaching in nursing.
- Select clinical teaching methods appropriated to students’ needs and background.
- Develop clinical teaching plans
- Identify the methods and processes of nursing student performance evaluation.

Evaluation methods :

Educational Psychology |

Course Description :
This subject includes concepts and principles of educational psychology, an exploration of theories and the role of educational psychology, nature of the learners, learning process, supportive learning situation and learner satisfaction factors in the instructional process.
General Objectives :
This course enable the trainees to understand concepts and principles of educational psychology, the nature of learners and learning process, the methods to support learning situation and encourage learner’s satisfaction.
Specific Objectives :
After completing this course, the trainees will be able to:-
- Describe the concepts, and principle of educational psychology.
- Summarize the role of educational psychology.
- Apply the educational psychology theories into the instructional process.
- Describe and analyze nature of the learners and learning process.
- Analyze the supportive learning situation.

Measurement and Evaluation |

Course Description:
This course lays the foundation on principles and guidelines of measurement and evaluation in nursing education. The development and psychometric properties testing of some selected measurement tools are included. The concept of authentic assessment congruent with student-centered instruction in introduced.
General Objectives:
This course will enable trainees to know and understand the basic concepts and principle of measurement and evaluation and to be apply theories to practical situations.
Specific Objectives:
After completing this course, attendants will be able to:-
- Describe principles and guidelines of measurement and evaluation
- Develop some commonly used measurement tools in nursing education and perform psychometric properties testing of those tools
- Select and use the appropriate tools/methods in the real situation

- Participation in teaching/research activities using assessment instruments

Clinical Teaching Practicum |

Credits: 4 credits
Course Description:
This course focuses on the development of clinical teaching skills, supervision skills, and other learning/teaching related skills such as grading, and evaluating students. The trainees perform clinical teaching and supervision at clinical placement. The development of teachers’ attitudes, personality, ethics, and spirituality is also the focus of the practicum.
General Objectives:
This course enables the trainees to develop clinical teaching skills using various teaching methods and perform appropriate supervision skill at clinical placements.
Specific Objective:
After completing this course, the trainees will be able to:-
- Select teaching methods and develop clinical lesson plans.
- Prepare teaching instructional media and utilize them appropriately.
- Perform clinical teaching using various clinical teaching methods.
- Prepare supervision plans and supervise students at clinical placements.
- Assess and evaluate nursing students’ performance at clinical placements.
- Advise and facilitate students during their nursing practicum.
- Demonstrate roles and attributes of good clinical teachers.
- Perform other learning/teaching related activities.
Methods of Teaching:
- Perform clinical teaching at clinics using 3 different methods.
- Practice supervising students at clinics at least once a week for 3 weeks.
- Participate in other teacher’s activities by working with preceptors.
- Develop learning contract/Follow learning contract plan
