Course Description:
This subject focuses on the principles and practices in advanced health assessment that includes taking health history, physical examination, and the interpretation of laboratory studies. Additionally, its emphasis is on health oriented approach about assessing clients as individuals on physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs. The health assessment process including data collection, information analysis, clinical judgments and clinical decision making process will be performed.
General Objectives:
This subject will enable trainees to demonstrate health assessment process including taking health history, physical examination, and the interpretation of laboratory studies and health problems of clients through clinical judgment and clinical decision making process.
Specifics Objectives:
Upon completion of this subject, trainees will be able to:
- Identify principles of advanced health assessment
- Analyze concepts of health assessment and its application to clinical practices in specialty areas.
- Conduct client-centered interview skills for taking health history.
- Perform physical examination and assess psychological, social, and spiritual needs of patients.
- Interpret laboratory findings, abnormalities, and health problems of clients through the use of clinical judgment and clinical decision making process.

Evaluation Methods:
A trainee’s grade will be determined by the achievement in the following areas:
1. Academic report 10%
2. Conducting physical examination 40%
3. Examination 30%
4. Discussion 20%
The grading system will comprise of nine scales: A, B+, B, B-, C+, C, C-, D+, D
